280 synchro cross-slide.

Post by Pete. » Tue 03 Mar , 2009 19:56 pm

Can anyone supply me with a drawing for the cross-slide on the 280 synchro? I want to make a replacement for mine with tee-slots rather than a compound. I have the material but I could do with a drawing to get the dovetail angles & dims etc exactly right.

Drawing numbers:

Saddle Arrangement - should be SL100/500 (MVS100/500 and BVS 100/500 for the 280VS machines), and should confirm the numbers below.

Cross-slide (on 280VS manual & electric, so probably also for the Synchro) MVS100/506

Cross-slide Gib strip - ML100/508B (drawing No. may be ML100/508, as the top-slide gib is numbered ML100/508A, possibly on the smae sheet)

Hope this helps.

Oh well, the consistent numbering theory doesn't always work!

I'll check at home to see if I have a copy of MVS 100/506.

Andy (Admin) - did you find any of the SL.... drawings? I seem to recall that I could not easily find them, and only came across them when looking for something else as they were not labelled on the drawer front. There was a pile of large drawings in one drawer that were folded over, not flat. Could be with those.

I found my paper copy of MVS 100/506 - so it must be in the Denford drawing chests somewhere......

Unfortunately my copy is very poor, so I'll need to go over the lines & dimensions in pencil before it will scan or photograph well enough to be readable. May take a day or 2 before its done.

First part of drawing added to downloads.

Will add other bits when I get time to ink them up.
