I own an older Triac VMC (1990) and use the original Heidenhain DTT.
My wish is to replace the Eurostep Controller with one of the newer Cards and use the Windows based Controll Software.
Is this just a dream or possible?

The Triac with the DTT can be upgraded. 
The upgrade to Windows software VR MILLING 5 and a USB or RS232 interface can be made. This can be done on site by our engineers.
The upgrade code is UGR 0007
There is however one exception.
If the triac has a toolchanger fitted and it is controlled by a stepper motor then the current VR software will not drive the toolchanger.
If you have a stepper operated auto toolchanger then the machine can be upgraded but you would loose the toolchanger.
If you have an air operated toolchanger then this is still supported.
Please e-mail Sales@denford.co.uk for a quote on the upgrade and provide the machine serial number with the request and we will be able to look up the specification of the machine.

Yes, the VMC has an ATC! The Arm Up/Down In/Out will use air pressure. There is a Motor to turn the Taper Holder!
I have read on your Homepage that an upgrade is only for Maschines after 1992!?

Cost is around £1000-£1200 for Euro card and VR Milling 5 software - you will only have to put a hole in the electrical box to get the USB cable to the card.
Even if you have a stepper driven toolchanger, its still possible to customise the 'PLC' on the new controller so that the stepper redirection relay can be energised when needed at toolchange time.
All the software required to change the logic is on the VR Milling 5 CD.
Its up to you how badly you want to bring this machine up to date
Personally I think its very worth-while as the new control vastly improves machining with block look ahead, smooth velocity contouring and high speed block throughput via USB. The latest version of VR milling also has some handy tools to import DXF and PCB gerber files and create offset toolpaths.
BTW, The USB interface will only work on Win2K or XP PC's, but will still support RS232 comms at 57600 baud on Win 95/98.

There is one thing that i haven't understand the whole time: is the VRM-Soft necessary to use the machine whit the Euro-Card? As far as i understand it, the Euro-Card's contains the complete Machine-Controls and the Program-Disks add the Control like Heidenhain or Fanuc to write and simulate Programs. In this case the use of the older HH-Control would be possible? I use the Machine for my Hobby and wants to hold the cost as small as possible.
How much is it without the Software?
