Air Chuck

Post by black8898 » Tue 16 Mar , 2010 12:40 pm

I have a Leader Air chuck fitted to my Cyclone which works perfectly the only problem is if I want to grip the inside of a piece of metal , plastic I get a message on screen that tells me the chuck is not closed , the machine will only work with the jaws on the outside of the material that you are working with , my question is , is it possible to rectify this so that the machine will work with the jaws open or closed ???

I don't know about this machine, but there is sometimes a key-switch hidden away somewhere to determine Internal or External chucking modes...
Looking at the diagnostics from the other post, you could try changing this bit:
455.6 Chucking sensors normally open
to
455: x0xx xxxx
or
455: x1xx xxxx

Thanks for the reply , could you tell me on the parameters that suggest I could try , what do I enter where you have put the "x" ?? I thought that I could only enter 0 or 1 and no letters ,

Make sure you're in the DIAGnostic bits, and not parameters
The x's are unknown (to me) - they could be 0 or 1 depending on your other settings - I was just highlighting which 'bit' you could try changing. ie, from 0 to 1 or vice-versa

Thanks again for your reply I will have a play with the Diagnostic parameters after I search to see if I can find a key-switch which changes from external/internal ,. your help is much appreciated

There could also be "something" which switches the air over,so the clamping solenoid opens the chuck instead of closing it...sorry to be vague, I have no info to hand
