Hi.
My Viceroy 280 synchro has a collar on the powerfeed bar, which pushes the bar towards the quick-change gearbox if the carriage runs into it and releases the driving dogs so the carriage stops traversing. Does anyone know the original intention of this mechanism? Was it intended for use in turning up to a shoulder or was it simply devised as a protection feature?
