Slot together Fly cut on VersaLaser

Post by Steve » Fri 02 May , 2008 9:09 am

While out in northern Ireland last week I saw a project that had been cut on a VersaLaser.

Chris who made the part will hopefully upload the LaserCAM file for it.

This is very nice indeed. Is Chris a pupil, student, technician, teacher or lecturer?

Chris is a Technician I believe and has just taken delivery of his Laser. :D

He found the files online then resized to suit.

Hopefully Chris will respond to this thread. :?:

LaserCAM File For Fly

Post by WHS » Fri 02 May , 2008 16:29 pm

Hi all hope everyone likes the Fly! Here is the .MCM file (for laserCAM) for the fly. I have uploaded it in one file, but it needs split into 2 if the bed on your laser is 305mm X 610mm like mine. Let me know how you get on if you try this one for yourself, and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Hi Chris,

Admin has made changes so you can upload the MCM files :D

You may want to zip them though as they will be simpler to upload then.

I found the file online, there is also a spider one. I programme for an industrial router so can cut a giant pair in 8mm. They should be over a metre across. They should look really good fixed upside down on my 3m high workshop ceiling!

Should scare small children anyway

Hi Matt, Glad you like the fly. Can you either post the file or a link to it for the spider. I am in a school and we are making a collection of these models for display on openday. Thanks

Hi

Here are the files I found. I was going to cut them this week but we are suddenly busy again. My ceiling decoration will have to wait for a bit. :(
