Denford Easy Mill CNC Milling machine
This Machine was purchased from a collage who’s Engineering Dept had been dissolved. I realised the 1980’s controller these machines came with are basic and needed replacing with a modern PC based system.
SPEC
3 Axis cnc milling machine + one spare axis on the controller
X = 375mm
Y = 175mm
Z = 70mm
Knee travel (Z) = 250mm
Throat movement (Y) = 200mm
Motor = 2PH inverter driven infinitely variable speeds 0 RPM to 3000 RPM
4 pulley ratios to alter the torque / speed characteristics
Size and weights
1,100mm wide
960mm Deep
1,750mm High
Weight = 450kg
Axis motors = Stepper motors driven by Astrosyn
https://www.astrosyn.co.uk/docs/P210.pdf
The machine was retrofitted with Flashcut CNC (£700) https://www.flashcutcnc.com/index.html
This system is better than Mach3 as the program data passes through a ‘black box’ that ensures the timing of the axis motors are perfect. + you have support from the flashcut engineers if you have technical problems.
Tooling being sold with the machine (22 items):-
A range of quick release presetable tooling is included
5 x quick release holders with collets 6mm x 3 off, 10mm, 12mm
2 x Shell arbours
1 x Drill chuck
1 x limited access-machining holder with 6mm collet
R8 Collets = 12
6mm x 2 , 10mm, 12mm x 2, 16mm, 20mm
¼”, 3/8” ¾” 5/8” ½”
1 x fly cutter
The spindle can be tuned through the 180Degrees so drilling holes on an angle is no problem and the machine has a throat extension of 200mm that enables greater Y axis reach.
The machine is equipt with a Knee that gives 250mm of travel ontop of the 70mm Z movement
ALL the electrics / electronics were replaced, and if you are familiar with these machines you will know it was 415 Volt three phase machine originally, but due to carefully thought out conversion it now plugs into a domestic 240V 13Amp socket!!!
The drives were replaced with “NEW” Astrosyn Drives similar to gecko but a UK distributor (£300 for all three)
The spindle is R8 and is driven by a pulley and belt arrangement enabling slow speed high torque cuts to be made and high spindle speeds can be obtained, Additional to the conversion the 2HP motor is driven by an inverter (VFD) that allows infinite control of the motor speed… combine this with the pulley and belt arrangement it makes for a very flexible and powerful arrangement Enabling large cuts to be made.
Smaller Denford machines suffer with very weak spindles.
If you are interested please contact me on 01663 733344 if you want to talk about the machine and / or make me an offer.
if you want pic's or vid's of the machine cutting email me.
(i will try and post the vid's on youtube or something.)
I have had the machine 5 years now and needs to move down the line as a very large bridgeport interact is on the way so i need the room.

Hello Wess I have been reading your post regarding upgrade of the Easimill,
I have been looking at an advert for a Easimill with a Heidenhain control, I was wondering what you thought of the machine compared with the Brideport series 1 Mk2 you bought after. Also did you convert the Bridgeport with the later control, if so what did you do with the spindle motor did you keep it as a DC drive or replace it with a AC motor, and did you get it to run on single phase. look forward to your coments Cheers Colin
