ZeroTurn 1008, 1017 alarms

Good evening,


sorry if I have missed this on the board....

We have a ZeroTurn on a Fanuc OT 615-08 rev2.12 which has not been running for 5yrs ( I join the 9 weeks ago.)

one of the things is to get it running again.

so after changing the batteries I am left with a
1008, 1017 alarms.
Spindle fault
Spindle drive overheat
and a door open alarm
the door open alarm I can override to get a 1022 ovre ride error


I can not seem to find the software setting for this errors.

Please is there a solution

It May have lost all its parameters.

Do you have a serial number & despatch date???

Thanks, yes the paramerter where lost and have been re-entered, I`ll get all the serial numbers & despatch date unloaded after the first meeting today.

Reading other threads I`m led to thinking it is the 450 diag. enties need validating. However I can not find an acceptable set to input, or I`m doing some thing wrong.
As I understand it does not have a thermal sensor so if I can clear this error I then maybe able to index the turrel and so lost the other error.

Thanks Martin,

I saw the link and work through the list before, it could be there is a real problem with the sensor.
the senor errors happen on setting P 909 bit 6, working that text document does not clear them.

spindle drive fault
spindle drive overheat

the door error is cleaded.

if I leave the bit not set we get a NOT READY error but no listed alarm.

I hope to go and see a lath which I`ve heard about some 30miles away to see if can help.

"Not Ready" means you have a Emergency Stop error.
Is the E-Stop button out.
Try pressing & holding in the "Axis limit overide switch" (on the side).
You will need to hold the switch in while you drive the axis off its overtravel switch.

Parameter 21 bit 4 is the E-Stop monitor.

It will be a 0 when in fault & 1 when ok

NOTE that after a memory loss you must also set the "Diagnostic Setup marker" to '1' (Diagnostic 453.0 I think), then turn the machiner off and back on.

The machine uses this to set up some of it's own internal register values before resetting this diag back to '0'.

the e-stop bit is hard Zero, and not responding to any override.
as yet not been able to set 453.0 bit, the machine will not take the value.

off to the lab to check more wiring..........

thanks for all you advice so far, will get it working yet!!!! than it ia time to start fixing the interact bridgeport............ which I may retor over top the linux software EMC using a MOTENC controler card. (this is what I use in my home bridgeport)

are OK...... we may be getting somewhere.
none of the software solutions seem to solve the issues, but did point to hardware.

we checked last week the power rails and saw 239 on the dvm for the 24V rail. now we did not check the scale and missed to point. it was on rechecking last night .239 DUH.

following 61/68 back the 24V PSU is down, and we are now lookin at it.

it is no wounder that the sensors where not working.

lets see what tomorrow brings

just to let you guys know how hings are going.

we have probed the 24V power suppily and tracked a fault to a 3,3 tantilum cap with is short circiut. There my be more problems with the ICs further along the circiut, but the is power to that area. We will change the cap and follow on from there after the vac.

Is the end in sight?

little up date on this Lathe.

the Lathe worked well and many parts were made for Formula Student etc using it. However, following a five week stint we left it on over the weekend. When we came back in someone had turned it off.
Ok so not a problem, but it got the same error as before!!! Due to internal politics I never really got back to the machine and there is stood for 2 1/2yrs.........

The end of July I took Redundancy from the Uni and as part of my severances package got the Lathe, and two Brigdports one of which is the interact. I also got a Solar car which we took 3rd in Olympia Class at the South African Solar Challenge ’12

Well Finally the Lathe has been delivered to my new workspace (took them 3mths!!!) on Saturday, so I’m looking to get it up a cooking again.

Once you get it up & running you need to replace the batteries whilst it is up & running. They are locacted behind the cover on the side of the electrical box. 3 x D size. Then the memory is held for a couple of years. If the batteries are low it says "Bat" on the display screen from memory.

yes I was loking at it last night, and there is a voltage on the D-cells but I understnade they have been removed and replacedwhlist the machine has been off.

I expect to plug it in today.... and will see then.

the replacment 24V psu has arrived just in case it is needed.

I'm still waiting on the uni to actually give me the user/service manuals.....

Afternoon all,

well the story carrys on..... albe it with a break in South Afraic for 3wks

if anyone has any ideas it be help full to say the least.

machine switches on fine, no alarm signal listed yet no movment in homing.

by manually turning the lead screws the is NO movment on the DRO, no number changes in X or Z yet turning the headstock the head cont works.

if I disconect the cables at anypoint in the line the servo error alarms trip.

I'm going to soend some time buzzing out the lines, but if anyone knows of any thing that springs to mind.....
