Autocad R14 hardware lock or network license error

Post by Denford Admin » Thu 13 Sep , 2007 14:40 pm

This is a bit of a note for us to refer back to, in the future, but may be useful to others....

We just tried to re-install Autocad R14 onto a new XP PC which had to have a parallel printer port installed, as new PC's don't come with those now :?
Anyway, the hardware dongle could not be recognised and Autocad kept saying:
FATAL ERROR: Security system(hardware lock or network license) is not functioning or is improperly installed

The answer turned out to be to install the very latest Rainbow Sentinel drivers from here:

https://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp

This upgraded the old drivers installed with AutoCAD R14, and allowed the dongle to be found - it must be better at recognising printer ports which aren't "genuine" - ie ones that are plugged into the USB or PCI buses and not built into the motherboard.
