STARTURN PROBLEMS

Post by ruben »

I get a starturn, it never was used, but all seems to be ok. the black metal case says starturn, in the main board inside it says lcb3 and it says mirac 2.0 on a chip. the manuals says "fanuc ot turning offline programming system. with desktop tutor" and it says it uses denford fanuc turning v1.0.
i downloaded fanuncld and it says on the bar on the top denford fanuc turning v1.42 but i cant load information to the controller, i conect the cable to an other pc and i prove with the hyperterminal, and the computer its transmiting the program, but nothing happends with the controller and the lathe.

do i need to configurate the controller or something like that?

the destop tutor works ok but i cant run the program in the lathe. pressing the buttons home and auto nothing happends

the problem is the software, the controller or the lathe?

Hi - sorry I can't really help, I don't know anything of the older machines.

There may be bits of information relevant on this forum, and you if you could send a photo of the machine and electronics, it may help someone else know how to advise you.

i could get the original software and the dongle key, it was a box with 5 51/4 disks, they was in perfect conditions, the 5 disks was named:

FANUC OT DESKTOP TUTOR IBM version 1.34 Parallel key 24-Mar-1992
FANUC OT QWERTY system IBM version 1.34 Parallel key 24-Mar-1992
POST PROCESSORS DENFORD LATHES
DENFORD DRIVERS DISC IBM
FANUC OT -EXAMPLE -TEXT FILES

the software and the driver(the black metal box) are working ok but the lathe dont move.

i think i most configure the driver(the black metal box) with the disk POST PROCESSORS DENFORD LATHES but i dont know what file i most install.

the files in the disk are:

-PPETURN.EXE -PPFANUCT.GO
-PPETURN.GO -PPFANUCT.MSG
-PPFAGOR.EXE -PPFANUCT.TXT
-PPFAGOR.GO -PPOORAC.EXE
-PPFAGOR.MSG -PPOORAC.GO
-PPFAGOR.TXT -PPORAC.EXE
-PPFANUCT.EXE -PPORAC.GO
-PPSTURN.GO -PPSTURN.EXE

when i execute one of the fanuct.exe files says

FANUC TURNING POST-PROCESSOR 1.00 (6 April 1988 )
Denford Machine Tools Ltd ( Software Department )

ENTER CAM FILENAME:

if i enter a file name like "fanuc" it says:

Post-processing C:\TORNO\FANUC.LGP
Creating C:\TORNO\FANUC.FNC

CAM file not foud

and thats all

what can i do to install my machine?
can anyone supply me with a fanuc or mirac instalation manual?

i add some pictures of my machine

I think the software you require for your machine is called FANUCSLD.EXE

You can download it here
https://website.denford.ltd.uk/support/9 ... s-software

NOTE that you can not send G codes directly to the machine electronics via the RS232 link. You need to load a G Code program into the FANUCSLD software, then use this to communicate with your machine.

I downloaded FANUCSLD and Dosbox for run it and its working ok

but when I'm working on step mode, for each time i press the x axis bottom the machine moves two steps. When I want to move the x axis 1 mm it moves 2 mm.

Is there a form to calibrate the X axis motor?
How can I solve this problem?

Is the problem only when in STEP JOG mode, or also in JOG and AUTO modes too?

I think the machine works in Diameter mode, this means that when the display changes by 1mm, the X motor moves by 0.5mm (because the final workpiece diameter will have changed by 1mm). If this is the reason then this is normal!

I think Mr Magoo is right.

Try moving the z axis and see if this moves the correct distance?

If so then the machine is OK.
