Information on changewheels for TDS 1/1 GB Required

Post by paulmo101 » Sat 16 Jun , 2007 20:50 pm

Hi

I have recently bought a TDS 1/1 GB and I have noticed that I have a changewheel missing. The set is from A To G. I have the letter E missing but I have 2 F`s. Its a ex school machine and the missing gear probably ended up on another lathe that now has a F missing!
Anyway the cogs I have are:
A = 16 Teeth
B = 18 Teeth
C = 22 Teeth
D= 24 Teeth
E = ? Missing
F = 27 Teeth
G = 35 Teeth.

I was wondering if someone could supply me with the info I need to get a replacement cut?
I have emailed Tony Griffiths as he mentions gears to order for the viceroy but if I have the relevant info I could get one machined elsewhere if Tony can`t sort me one.

Thanks for reading the post.

Paul

Paul,

I should have all the info you need - it's at home, so I'll try to remember to have a look.
Please pm me in a couple of days to remind me if I don't post anything here!

I also want some gears cut - for metric to imperial conversion - so maybe we could get together - I'm in mid Derbyshire.

Is your machine metric or imperial?

Andy

Right then....

I'm guessing you have a metric machine, as the change wheel set is the same as on my metric 280VS.

E is a 26T.

The changewheels are 18DP, 20 deg Pressure Angle.
You can probably do the calcs yourself, but that gives an O/D of 1.5560", and a PCD of 1.4444".
Tooth depth is 0.1198", and the tooth width 0.086"/0.084".

That should be all you need to get a new one cut. Keep us posted on where you get it done.
