Help, Orac Lathe spindle not working

Post by neale » Wed 28 Mar , 2007 11:59 am

Hi,
I have just aquired a 1987 Orac Lathe ser no AC06037C.
The spindle was working fine in manual mode until recently, but will now not start when you press the spindle start button.
All you get is a beeping noise from the machine, the x and z axis work fine .
I am trying to program the machine to see if it works under program and am getting their slowly.
I wondered if it was anything to do with the gaurd interlock, but the plunger seems to be working ok.
I would appreciate any help as its not much use without the spindle rotating.

Many Thanks

Neale

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Does the spindle feel free to rotate ?
If that seems ok, then I would check the state of the fuses / relays and connectors.
Old machines will corrode, terminals and connector pins will come loose etc....
I'd do a basic inspection of the electrics, and check everything is secure.
