Hello,
I am servicing my v dusty old DST Educator Viceroy wood lathe Ser No TDS 6 1415
What screw thread is used on such as the back top of drive belt cover at the headstock.
It appears to be a M6 bolt with a 1.25 thread (BTW that is the extent of my thread knowledge).
BUT would such an old UK machine use an M6 bolt irrespective of the unusual thread pitch i.e. 1.5 rather than 1.0
I am embarrassed asking such a simple question but I cannot get an answer from a load of 'online' tech info.
Regards
Richard

Hi Richard,
I'm sure there is a parts listing on here somewhere for the TDS 6, but I'm not so familiar with them.
Denford did use a mix of threads over the years.
1.25mm is more likely 20tpi, so it could be 1/4" x 20 UNC or BSW. The difference is in the angle, 60 degrees or 55.
Might help if you can post a picture of where the screw is.
Andy

Page 329 of this download - https://www.denfordata.com/downloads/for ... imised.pdf - lists 1/4" BSW, so I expect that's what they are.

Why do people ask questions and never acknowledge the answers?

Hardware/Software: None. I own a pre CNC Denford 280 Synchro lathe.
Because they are not as well brought up as what we are, Andy
