Problem drilling holes.
I'm using a Triac PC with VR Milling 5 latest version.

I create a DWG file such as the attached, which is a simple plate with four drilled holes.
Import the DWG file into VR Milling and specify imperial units.
Move on to the billet window (billet size is OK), but I notice the holes are displayed not as circles, but as polygons. Octagons in this case, but I seen rectangles too.
Move to next window. I can specify outside and inside cuts without problems. However the moment I select drill holes, the holes shrink down into a small area at the bottom left hand corner of the billet. Zooming in on this shows the holes overlapping and criss crossed by lines. At the same time the outline of the plate becomes dimmed.

What's going wrong?

Thanks.

Re: Problem drilling holes.
I can see the problem here.
It appears that the hole positions are not being scaled when you pick the drill plan.(everything should be scaled to metric units)

Can you set the original CAD system to output Metric units ? That will probably fix the problem while we sort it out in VR Milling.

Thanks for the prompt reply. As you suggest it works fine when the imported DWG file uses metric units.

A fix for the problem with imperial dimensions would be appreciated, as I work mainly in inches.

Re: Problem drilling holes.
I see that it's now two years since I reported this problem.

Is it likely to be fixed?

Hi,

The software programmer who had been working on this has left the company and the problem must have been missed from the list of outstanding tasks.

I will pass this on to be looked into by our new programmer.

Max the Miller, what version of VR Milling 5 software are you running? As far as we are aware the problem was fixed a while ago on numerous versions of VR Milling ver 5. Can you try down loading VR Milling ver 5.64 from the link below. Note !!! keep the lVR Milling ver 5 licence file (SecKey.tff) backed up for futures use as we charge for replacements.

Re: Problem drilling holes.
I was running V5.63, but have now upgraded to V5.64. I can confirm that the problem is fixed in both builds. I probably hadn't noticed as I've been converting all DWG files to metric dimensions before importing them so as to avoid the problem.

Many thanks.

It would appear that no new version announcement has been made since v5.61 back in October 2015?

EDIT. I see that some new versions have been announced, but they're not in the "stickies" section at the top of this forum, so they're difficult to spot.
