I have had a 1985 TRIAC for about 6 months which is mechanicaly sound and doing the job for which it was intended, but has a few bad habits which need work rounds.
The current problem is that the keyboard is failing. I can get it to work by heating with a fan heater or twisting the frame but I think it is about to give up totaly.
I don't want to do an upgrade at the moment but am thinking of building a new keyboard using tactile switches.
Has any one tried this or have a map of the matrix?

it sounds as if you have a dry solder joint. when you heat the keyboard the parts inside expand slightly remaking the connection, twisting would do the same.
when the joint cools it may loose connection again.
i have not seen inside one of these but if it where me i would resolder all of the joints on any circuit board, and reseat any socketed chips
