I get “Set XXX Link Function” on VR Milling ver 2 or 5
What does it mean ?

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

This message just means that the Machine (Lathe, Miller or Router) controller was not found. The message may not always appear as it depends on your PC comms settings and any other sofware that is using the comm port.
Check that COM port works, either USB or RS232, and the correct cables are plugged in and secure. If all looks OK, try turning the machine and PC off and on again
