TRIAC PC _DOS ERROR COMMUNICATION

Hello
I'm teacher in Greece and i have in my school TRIAC PC 1992 ( see foto) with original manuals and CDs. Before 20 years it was connected with 10 PCs on line . I found pc 486 +dos 6.22 and i load the fanucmd . COM 1 & COM2 are tested and it's ok ( with modem + tester program) . Connect COM1 with Tutor desk and COM2 with Machine.
COM1 Cable 9 way female to 25 way male ( 1-8,2-3,3-2,4-20,5-7,6-6,7-4,8-5,9-22 as manual says ).
COM2 the same as cable com2
When i run fanucmd it's says :
- machine installed
- IBM desktop progr. (Fanuc V2)
- Driver Keybd. 12. oct. 1993
- IBM VGA driver CRT 3. june 1992
- initialising MINT 3.28
- error 50 MINT controller disconnected
- the RS 232 link to the machine tool couldn't be established, check cables.
- VGA Driver removed
- keybd. driver removed
- RS232 driver removed
- error 128 software aborted
If i run heiden i have control with desk tutor but not with machine . The transmit it's ok , the rate,bits, ect it's ok
After all i suspect tha the problem is IN the Machine ( as i have read in the forum ) . The sgment display always light the number 8 .Could be the battery ( after 20 years??? , anything else???)

The machine needs to be connected using a RS232 serial lead. The lead for the desck top tutor is what we called a straight pin to pin connector. We used to supply a 25 way to 25way D type RS232 lead then 2 x 9 to 25 way converters.

What is the version of the eprom?

The RS232 lead between the machine & the computer should be different to the 9 to 25way connecting the desk top tutor to the computer.

eprom 3.28 v1.0 f/s . In Pc the 2 serial after tested it's OK . com1 & com2 baud rate 9200 , parity none , 8, 1.

RESULTS : NOTHING FOR THE 2 ABOVE SENARIOS A & B . Martin can you please tell me what cable i use ??? The software i use is TRIAC , FANUCMD , HEIDEN , HEIDENK.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO . i'm confused .

All the combination i tried but nothing
As i write the Triac was connected with 10 PCs before . Is it possible their is a dip switch in the Euro card that can change????
What aboute the Machine battery ????? May be the battery of PC ??? .
As I wrote the baud rate of COM1 &COM 2 was 9200,8,1,none . The screen is VGA.
What must be the rate in the software ???? The LED shows the number 8.

I wouldn't worry about PC battery unless the default BIOS setting turns off the 2nd COM port ?
Check the BIOS IRQ settings for the COM ports
also check they match the options in the .go file - try to get the machine connecting on com1 (forget about the keyboard for now)

fisrt the COM1 & COM2 its OK . the baud rate in the pc for the 2 coms is 2400 ( not 9200) ,8,1,n
before that it was good to tell me
1) have i change the baudrate in the pc ??? and if yes what ???
2) what is the exac cable to put from pc to machine and pc to desktop .
3) which software i use ??? HEIDEN ,HEIDENK, FANUCMD, TRIAC ???
4) I suspect that the axis is ovveride and i want the manual or drawing for the axis to repair it
because before 10 days i heared hum loud for a wile.
5) do i have to remove the eurocard and replace it again???? have i check pins or dip switch in the cards???
6) which desktop i use ??? ( see attachment) when i use P2 DESKTOP

hello

I have old pc 486 with ONLY dos 6.2 .
I run only in dos
the 2 coms works OK tested with modem and software
in the AUTOEXEC.BAT i have input the command MODE COM1:9600,o,7,1 & MODE COM2:9600,o,7,1
so when pc opens they coms install .
Please can someone answer in the 5 questions above?????

Most of us here don't know much about this software as it's before our time and have no hands-on experience with it - all we have is the knowledge we have gained from old documentation all of which is posted on this forum.

I don't think the baudrate matters in DOS - the software will make it's own settings when it starts

I always recommend studying the cable shown here to connect from PC to machine

If nothing else you can check that the cables you have connect in the same way.

Have you searched the forum for drawings ?

As far as I know there are no switches to set or change

I'd forget about the Tutor for now and disconnect it completely - just get the machine working first

I think either TUTOR will work and they are just different key overlays - the black one will operate the Heidenhain software and the other will operate Fanucmd

First thanks for your advice.

Finally i have made triac to communicate with pc
i pullout the eurocard and put it back again , then i use FLSTEP with com1 only (QUERTY KEYBORD ) in fanucmtr software
running <fanucmd.exe > . the flstep.go was

AND IT WORKSBUT the software is for lathe in the screen and i am connected with mill.
Then i can not control from keyboard the mill because the screen is in lathe mode , so WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO FOR THE MILL???
The only control from keyboard is <cooling on > .
what is the text .GO &.OPT for mill ???
