Re: Asr servotron
Cheers Andy, I did think it was a long shot. I have contacted ABB uk (who own baldor and asr) and they directed me to sms automation. Still waiting for a reply to several emails. 🙄 I have done a bit of testing with the board and found the transistors on the x channel have failed so I'm just waiting ...

Asr servotron
Wondering if anyone has a manual or any documentation pertaining to the asr servotron tfm servo amplifier as fitted to the 3c (tnc155 control) x axis motor appears to not be energising while z and y do. Z and Y do suffer from creep once energised.

Senior 3c Heidenhain Parameters
Was lucky enough to win an auction a few days ago for a denford senior 3c cnc mill with a heidenhain tnc155 control. The mill is yet to be delivered but I know from the description that the battery has died in the control. While I know this is a trivial replacement I need to locate the correct param...

1986 triac pnc spindle bearings
Anyone got the spindle bearing sizes and specs/ratings for an 86 pnc triac with an r8 spindle. Bearings are a tad too crunchy for comfort.

Re: pks digiplan SD2 and SD3 triac drive
just so we are on the same page here, ive an old 1986 triac, i know the later triacs have a different layout, so likely the loom will be different. ill try the energise pin anyway and see what happens. assuming i have the correct pin out

Re: pks digiplan SD2 and SD3 triac drive
Thanks for the reply @davidb. So far I've thrown a breadboard together with a pair of 2n2222a and a pair of 3k3 resistors and wired it to the rainbow coloured 16 pin ribbon coming from the triac drive card. Using the triac GSM for reference but it doesn't seem to work for me. I cant even get a volta...

pks digiplan SD2 and SD3 triac drive
the understanding i have is that the drives require a 12v step & direction signal to operate. can someone confirm this? does anyone know if there are any available parallel breakout boards that can output 12 rather than 5v TTL? or recommend any other solutions for that matter.

Re: Getting up to speed with a 1986 Triac cnc
Nope, and frankly it's a bit late for that.
Got the spindle and stepper drive power sussed and fitted a mesa 7i98 card, breakout board, 5v and 12v power supplies and now it's just getting control signals sorted and linuxcnc configured.

Re: Getting up to speed with a 1986 Triac cnc
Does anyone happen to know what the primary taps are on the drives toroidal transformer? I have a purple, red and white to the primary, with red jumpered to a second terminal. Trying to get power to this without releasing any magic smoke. Also, what role does the contactor play? E-stop? 160175165558...

Re: Getting up to speed with a 1986 Triac cnc
It powered on as far as the the power indicator on the front. Monitor wouldn't display anything and couldnt hear any relays so I pulled the electronics tray out and started checking the harness' found 5 broken pins in connectors so rather than trying to repair the old control I pulled the main card ...

Getting up to speed with a 1986 Triac cnc
20200930_125940.jpg 20200930_155438.jpg After roughly 10 years I finally have myself a second denford mill, having managed alright so far with a novamill it's nice to get my hands on somthing slightly more substantial. I have considered drip feeding or dnc to the original control but frankly I thin...

Is the spindle really only capable of 2500rpm? Would have thought It would be fit for more

As the title says, does anyone have a manual to suit the earlier green triac with r8 spindle?

Re: Novamill rs232 connection fault
It was running flawless before. Machining brass for roughly an hour before the issue occurred. Still have the part on the machine, in the vice waiting to resume. So since the battery isn't an issue, the cable is fine, the software/computer is fine then it must be an issue with the top board itself. ...

Re: Novamill rs232 connection fault
So I've the top card extracted from the machine and checked the battery output. It's 0.68v since this is meant to be 2.4v I think it's safe to say it's done. But could this be the cause of my issue? Since it requires replacement anyway I'm going to replace it first and see if it works. Just wonderin...

Re: Novamill rs232 connection fault
yes the board lights up and and i can hear the machine powered on. iirc it displays a 0 or an 8. although ill have to confirm that. just get the onscreen message stating... a problem has occurred. make sure the machine is switched on and the rs232 cable is connected correctly. ive noticed the rs232 ...
