There was a topic from a few years back which included a spreadsheet which
simplified the process of screwcutting imperial with a metric leadscrew,

Re: 1/2" LH Modified Square Tap for ML100-512 Cross Slide Feed Nut
Hi, You can change to ACME for the Cross slide feed nut if you want, you will also need an ACME threaded cross slide screw obviously, however, if you have a lathe with a powered cross feed there is a drive gear on the shaft so you will need to accommodate that if you still want the powered cross fee...

Re: Help with TDS6 Bowl Lathe
If there was a cover or something you could take off, you could take it to a paint shop that had an electronic colour matcher, they could give you a RAL number which might be OK for your purposes. And possibly mix you some paint.

Re: Hoover Motor in Viceroy Lathe
Hi, If the motor just sits and buzzes when its powered up it sounds like the winding which generates the starting rotation is not working. The centrifugal switch could be faulty, the fact that you say you can tap it and then it starts sounds like a bad contact somewhere, could be the switch contacts...
Re: Hi All!
Hi,
Here's a link for a TDS 1 manual:
https://www.denfordata.com/pdfs/Viceroy ... -Lathe.pdf
Lathes.co.uk covers just about all lathes I think, see link below,
https://www.lathes.co.uk/viceroy/
The site site has a lot of information about Denford and Lathes in general.

Re: Tail stock issue disassembling
ML100-700.jpg ML100-700.jpg Your tailstock is not the same as the one shown in the scanned drawing, it looks like the side ways movement is produced by screwing the bolt in and out of the keyway piece, the bolt itself can't move because it is trapped by a blocking pin. You can either replace the br...

Re: Tail stock issue disassembling
Hi, I just saw your post, apologies if you have solved your problem by now. I have a copy of an Assembly drawing ML100/700 which looks pretty similar to your tailstock. The drawing shows two clamping screws which oppose each other and can move the body from side to side when it isn't clamped to the ...

Re: Countershaft drive belt tension.
I had a similar problem over the last few days, not helped by lack of personal mobility due to knee problems. Unable to move the adjusting screws for the intermediate pulley position I eventually unscrewed the RH bracket from the lathe cabinet. They are allen head countersunk socket screws, I can't ...

Re: Installing Denford Viceroy on wooden bearers
I have a Viceroy as well. I also struggle with a sore back etc etc. B&Q sell soft wood "Railway sleepers" for raised beds, I think they are 5 x 8 inches. I bought a couple of them and cut them to length, bolted them together with 12mm screwed rod, seems to have worked OK. The lathe cabinet is screwe...

Re: Selector Dial stuck
Hi Again, I would suggest spraying the gear selector knob with release oil, try to get it down the back to the where the shaft goes into the gearbox. The lever on the left must be in the fully up position before you do anything else, as stated. Make sure the gearbox is filled to normal working level...

Re: 4 jaw chuck
Hi, When you have a backplate that fits the nose, you machine it so that it fits the register at the rear of the chuck, which most chucks will have. Any 4 jaw chuck should be adaptable to fit, a self centering chuck can be mounted on a backplate with a bit of play so that it can be adjusted to be cl...

Re: Feed speed chart
Hi, If you open the change gear cover at the left end of the lathe there should be a " parking " stud with a collection of gears on it, towards the rear. If you have these gears, and examine them you will find they are marked with letters, A to G, if you don't have them you are in a bit of trouble !...

Hi, Some comments on your posted pictures: Pic 1: This is the tumbler reverse for changing the rotation direction of the leadscrew or feedscrew. Pic 6: This lever closes the half nuts for threading. You can't do cross feed and threading at the same time. Only one shaft can be driven at a time. Pic 5...

Re: Thread Dial Indicator
I don't understand this.
If you engage the TDI and wind the carriage backwards and forwards does the dial turn correctly ?
You should be able to spin the indicator freely when disengaged.
Is it the correct gear for the leadscrew ?, does it mesh properly ?

Re: Acceptable Motor Temperature??
Hi Alex, 1) Where there is a chance that a motor could be stalled in service a type of motor called an "impedance protected " motor is used. This just has a greater amount of iron in its construction so that the core does not become saturated magnetically, even when the motor is not turning. The lit...

Re: Acceptable Motor Temperature??
Hi, "Apparently single phase motors draw the same amount of current regardless of the load put upon them so it will heat up just as much under no load as it does under full load, and will continue to do so until it melts " Thats rubbish, if that was the case a thermal overload unit, a P&B golds type...

Re: TDS 1/1 Cross Slde Micrometer Dial Problem
Hi, I have tried my cross slide and compound slide and the travel (Imperial) is .980" ( i don't have a metric dial gauge) This fits in with the pitch which is supposed to be 2.5mm for both screws. (should be .984") I don't understand how you have measured 1.4mm unless there is either a lot of play i...
