Hi Martin, Thanks for reply.
I reinstalled, it worked, but then the next day i had the same error messages.
Do you have any other ideas so i dont have to reinstall VRMilling every day?
Thanks again,
Fred

Is this a Windows 10 install?
If it is can you check you are logged on as an Administrator. It may be creating a virtual file.

Hi,
Yes, Windows 10 Home.
I am signed in as 'User' administrator.
I can create an account and sign in in my own name if that would help.
Thanks,
F

Hi again,
Sorry to pester you. I've got a project i'm desperately trying to get done and have now reinstalled the software 5 times.
On top of that I'm finding the vrmilling5 software very buggy. when importing dxt files, some lines jump and move when i get past the define billet stage. Then, when I click on other joined lines i get an error message and it says 'calculating' i waited ten minutes and just gave up on it. reinstalled again and found the same problems.
Do you think it might be easier to use an older more stable version of VR Milling?
Grateful for any assistance.
Fred

HI, The guys at Denford do this as a sort of hobby so don't always come on, so the support is sort of unofficial and often by those of us who use the machines either at work or home.
A couple of things,
what happens if you open VR5:
1 DON'T connect to the machine and try file open.
2. DO connect to the machine and home all axis.
It shouldn't make any difference as I often work on VR5 with the machine not turned on, turned on but the connect to machine isn't pressed, it's on and connected both homed and not homed with out issue. Just wondering if the new version has an issue some how.
I haven't tried this or the last release as on the last version my machine didn't show up on the lists, I never got round to letting them know though.
If you search the forum I think you will find 'access violation' has popped up on a few occasions so it would be worth searching for that actual error message or just 'access violation' I had it when I connected to the machine rather than when I tried to open a file. As Martin said it could be an issue with VR5 trying to write to a location on the PC. I know we had some problems at work years ago do to with permissions and VR5 not being able to set up write locations where it needed to. It was the way our systems at school were 'locked down' to stop kids messing.
Re your issues importing files you say dxt files, do you mean dxf ? I have not had such issues as you have mentioned with DXFs but I'm on an older version of VR milling. If you have a DXF you could post up that is causing issues and what your tool library is I could see if it works OK on VR 5.68.
Could you do a screen record of the issue so we could see what is occurring. If you haven't done that before and easy way is to use powerpoint 2013, you can screen record within that with audio. You can save the file as just a video file rather than a power point too.

If you can try it on a Non Windows 10 install it should work fine.
Still think it will be Windows 10 creating it's own directory. ( It may be worth searching the hard drive for one of the VRMilling files to see if it has created a copy elsewhere.
