Hello to you all,
Does anyone here have any knowledge or engineering drawings of the feed gearbox for the mk2 PCS Viceroy?
I need to dismantle this gearbox as the feed rod disengagement clutch is jammed. I have managed to remove the lead screw from this gearbox but stumped as the how to remove and dismantle the operating knobs and the feed-rod clutch.
Any help or assembly drawing of the unit would be very much appreciated.
Kindest regards, John R.

Hi,
If you have a look at the stickies at the top of the forum there is one that says ML100/xxx scans.
If you look in there there are some gearbox drawings.
It looks to me like you take the quadrant arm off and then unbolt the front plate from the gearbox.
(Expecting a small oil flood).
I expect you can find the problem from then on.
But I've never done it, so good luck.

Re: Feed Gearbox Dismantling Procedure
Hello to you all,
Thank you Les for your help information.
I have now manged to completely dismantle a Viceroy TDS PCS feed gearbox. The gearbox is removed from the headstock by 2 horizontal cap head bolts diagonally opposed, one at the top right and the other at the bottom left when viewed through the headstock aperture.
The lead-screw is removed by removing a cap screw from the centre of the gear wheel on the end of the lead-screw in the gearbox and then the gear slides off the end of the lead-screw, its keyed to the end of the shaft. The lead-screw just slides out of the casing. The feed rod is removed by removing a taper pin in the clutch gear assembly, and then the feed rod is just slides out of the bush in the gearbox.
The next job is to lever out the spring acting on the feed rod clutch once the feed rod is removed along with the 2 needle roller thrust bearings. Then you need to find a length of M12 threaded rod and 2 nuts or similar, and make up a pusher that goes between the casing and fits in the feed rod guide bush. The 2 csk cap screws on the gear case holding the feed rod guide bush need to be removed along with the cir-clip that retains the one half of the feed rod clutch gear. Then insert the pusher with the 2 nuts to push the feed rod guide bush out of the casing. The selector knobs are retained by a grub screw on each knob and need to be slackened and the knobs then pull off. the selector shaft is removed by drifting out of the casing making sure you knock the shaft out in the correct direction as one end of the casing has a key-way groove and the other does not! So make sure you drift out the shaft the make use of this key-way grove otherwise you'll do some damage! The 'C' Clips need to the be removed 1st to allow the gears and shaft to slide.
Now the parts are ready for cleaning and inspection/repair.
Hope this helps other members should the need arise to dismantle their feed gearbox.
Kindest regards, John R.
