Ball Screws and Ball nuts

Post by alastairseggie » Wed 09 Sep , 2009 11:29 am

Hi

I have a Starmill and wondered what the TPI would be on the screws. I have looked at the manual I have and it does not give the TPI for the screws, it does however give details on the ballnut. My digging on google came up blank could anyone tell me what the following descriptions of the ball nuts mean.

X and Y Ballnut description is - ho fong RS 4 x 10
Z Ballnut description is - Flanged 16 x 5 p

Any help welcome.

Alastair

Numbers usually refer to diameter and pitch so for example the 16 x 5p I would expect to mean 16mm diameter with a 5mm pitch, a pretty standard size for small machines.

Here is an example for sale on Ebay of a 16 x 5 ballscrew. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Retrofit-16x5-spi ... 286.c0.m14
