My first foray into CNC, so I'm hoping for some advice.
I'm considering the Easiturn 3 lathe.
Assuming the original control system functions correctly, what are it's limitations?
What are the benefits of upgrading to run modern PC based software, and how involved/expensive is it likely to be?

I bought a Easiturn3 with auto tool changer about a year ago, its not a bad machine considering the age of them.
But a few things that could be better, like the axis movement is not that smooth and seems to dwell between each movement.
Screw cutting can only be cut once, if you try to re cut the tool doesn't align to thread pitch so you end up with a double/cross thread.
Mermory could do with being larger.
Also If you do small rapid moves to position it sometimes loses itself, unless thats just my machine, so I tend to replace the small rapids with fast feedrate moves.
But stating all above I have managed to manufacture some good jobs.

I thought of retro fit, but time and money, plus getting the toolchanger to work, takes a bit of sorting out.
