Oh that's special...
First; did you laser/water cut and weld the parts yourself?
Second; I want one!
I'm not a fan of the original design - it puts too much stress and force (the full force the cylinder) on the casting - this approach is much cleaner and more refined. Plus it seems a better idea for the additional load of the cylinder, brackets etc to be central rather than offset.
Will you be sharing your drawings?
Thanks!

Hi folks,
Whilst no where near as elegant as the posts above (that is a work of art!) I have made more progress on my upgrade.

I also have a working reverse engineered carousel prototype, and will hopefully be posting videos about that in the near future.
Cheers

Re: novamill atc retrofit
Hi all,
Been away for a loooong time, and have been asked for the design quite a few times, so here are the sheetmetal parts...
All made of 5mm steel that I had laser cut - can be water/plasma cut as well.
If I remember correct I used 12mm h6 centerless grinded axle and made ø8 hole in it (can be made of standard axles), and made brass bush on the lathe to fit the arm as well
In the "arm" the center hole needs to bo drilled to fit your dimensions - I think I made it ø16 so the brass had a light press tolerance...
The compact cylinder I have used is from metalwork and is a ø63 with 15mm stroke.
Regards Morten

Re: novamill atc retrofit
Hi Folks,
Thought this might be of interest... updates on my DIY toolchange carousel. Its a working prototype but will need machining from metal to make it stiff enough to be reliable.

Part 3
Released on new year's day!
And seasons greetings to you all!
