Spindle wont power up

Post by 3d worker » Tue 20 Oct , 2009 9:19 am

I have a vertical router and I cant get the spindle to power up. The machine does everything else but power up the spindle. I have checked and changed all the fuses, checked the spindle motor switch is on. Please can you help me, we have our machine about a year and it is not used a lot.
Thanks

Has the Vertical Router been running recently ?

The carbon brushes are consumables, are they worn out ?

Is the Spindle Speed Override knob turned OFF ?

Have you got 240V going to the spindle drive board ?

Is the door closed ?

Are all contacts on the E Stop relay (rl1a) switching over fully ?
Does the spindle enable relay rl2a come on with M03 (spindle start) ?

Has the Router spindle motor had a lot of work ? I only ask because we have never had to replace any carbon brushes before.

What establishment are you ?

I work in a University, in a 3D dept. The machine hasnt had a lot of use, as its still under warranty maybe I should get the guy who supplied it to have a look.
Thanks for your help and speedy reply.

Please check the guard switch is in the locked position. If not, the spindle motor will not come on even if the guard is closed. If it has been moved to the unlocked position, you must use the release tool to push the pin back in order to turn the switch back to the locked position. For further information see p11 of the Vertical Router Operator Manual wich is located in the 'Manuals' folder on the 'VR CNC Milling V5' CD-ROM.
