Post by Crakkers »

The extractor fan on the extractor unit suddenly does not appear to work or runs at a very slow speed. All connections are secure.

Can u advise?

Are you taking about the fume extractor fan in the base of the cabinet that supports the Laser ? If so there some consumable carbon brushes that could need replacing. Contact service@denford.co.uk

That is a compressor unit that supplies air to the Laser. Check the LED's where the USB cable is connected to it.

Amber flashing in USB communications
Green fully illuminated is that the Laser CPU had called for the compressor unit to start up.

Check that there is 240v going to the compressor unit and check the 2 x 5 Amp slow blow fuses are OK in the kettler plug socket on the compressor unit

It could be the USB hub on the Laser that is faulty. If the extraction fan comes on, thats the one at the bottom of the cabinet that supports the Laser (You should see the amber and Green LED's here too). That means that the USB port on the hub is OK , hence try swapping over the USB cables to see if this makes a difference.

It could now be the compressor itself that is faulty

You will probably have to arrange a service visit, and just be prepared for the cost of a new compressor unit

One thing you could try. We had a similar problem and when I opened up the compressor unit I found that the DIP switch block had fallen off the small circuit board. Re-soldered it in place & hey presto, it works fine.
