I have decided to purchase a vertical milling machine for my home workshop preferably CNC and I have located a Denford Easimill 3 in very nice condition cosmetically and mechanically.
The machine has all the original CNC control system from I guess the mid 80's and I am told it is sold "as is" as the dealer is not CNC literate (neither am I yet) and he suggests most people now buy these & then retrofit them using a regular lap top or PC & more modern software, but he adds that I can also stick with the system fitted, but I would need to get a users manual.
1. What do you think of the machine price? £975+VAT
2. I have no idea where to start converting to a modern CNC control system, how would you suggest I go about this and likely costs?
3. It is 3 Phase what type of phase converter would you suggest as I will have single phase in my garage, is converting the phase problematic for CNC systems, how much is a suitable phase converter?
Regards and thanks in advance for any advice.
Shaun
