Problem from customer.

When the students have completed their drawing using 2D and are asked to go to plot file and the G codes are created, it defaults to the C drive. The students have to save to H, how do you change? It all slips by so fast he can't make a change.

Customer tried this below but did not work. I am assuming that it has something to do with the Denford part of the link which has taken over by the time the C drive needs to be accessed. Any ideas of what to do? Thank you.

In 2D design, go to help-help contents and key in DENFORD. You should see the information below.

By default, Design Tools – 2D Design reads the path to the Denford MACHDATA.INI and DENLCALL.EXE files from the Denford entry in the Windows WIN.INI file. However, for advanced users only, this can be overridden if necessary, by additional entries in the 2ddes.ini file. (Simply double click on the ini file to open it.) Typically, you would add the following three lines:

[LINKS]
DenfordProgramDirectory=C:\DENFORD
DenfordDataDirectory=C:\DENFORD\DATA

Leave this as is:
DenfordProgramDirectory=C:\DENFORD

and change the other to:
DenfordDataDirectory=H:\Denford\CNCProgs
(for example)

Probably best not to have long filenames or spaces in there as its a 16-bit application.

Customer states this does not work. Error comes up that "Denford Millers not correctly installed".

All was working with control software and Techsoft amd machining until the school district blocked him from saving to C drive.

IT person does not know. Any further ideas?

Do the Denford machines appear in Techsoft drop down when you go to plot ?

Have they tried this from another thread ....

This is one of our oldish support notes that may shed some light:

A problem has been identified when using TechSoft 2D Design with Denford Extensions on a network.
The problem related to the user wanting to specify seperate directories for the main TechSoft application (with read-only rights) and users data files (with read-write rights).
A new DENLCALL.EXE file has been released that overcomes this problem. All future shipments of TechSoft 2D Design with the Denford extension will have this updated file. This updated file can be obtained by emailing service@denford.co.uk <mailto:service@denford.co.uk>

Technical Information
To specify a new destination directory for the CNC Data files generated by the Denford Extension, add the following entry to the 2DDES.INI file located in the TechSoft 2D Design application directory
[LINKS]
DenfordDataDirectory=N:\MYWORK

The location of DENLCALL.EXE and DENLANG.DLL is still specified by the following entry in WIN.INI
[Denford Machine Tools]
Directory=P:\APPS\DENFORD\

It could be worth trying this DENLCALL in case the other one is out of date for some reason

In this example, then Denford post processor is installed to a network path and not C:\ drive - they could try moving this as a last resort to the users folder.

If all else fails, the user could use VR Milling V5 and create toolpaths from DXF files directly inside the milling application.
