It is unlikely that the dongle is faulty, basically if you locate a piece of software, off their original VR Turning Ver 1 / VR Milling Ver 2 software CD called DRIGHTS.EXE. If you run this program from a DOS box with the dongle in the Parallel port of the PC, if the dongle is seen by the DRIGHTS.EXE software then it will report what Denford software the dongle is registered for i.e.
Miller32 = VR Milling Ver 2
Lathe32 = VR Turning Ver 1
If the dongle cannot be found, put the known working dongle in the Parallel port and check again, if the dongle cannot still be found the problem could be a faulty Parallel port / the way the port is set up in BIOS, check the working PC BIOS and ensure the Parallel port setting are the same.

Note? The dongles are not interchangeable with each other one will run VR Milling Ver 2 and the other will run VR Turning Ver 1
