Hi,
Could someone assist with installing vr turning from denford download on to a windows 8 computer?
Steps taken so far

* Changed 'disabled USB' setting(defualt) to 'enbabled'

* Downloaded latest zip file vrturningv1_33 to the default folder 'Downloads' on my computer hard drive ( windows 8.)

* Highlight zip file 'vrturningv1_33', right click mouse and select 'extract all'

* The next window that opens requests that a destination folder be selected; the default is within the current 'Downloads' folder ie. c:\User\UserName\Downloads\vrturningv1_33.

So, select the browes tab to locate folder: C:\Program Files(x86)\Denford (created earlier)
However, another option was to select 'Program Files' instead of 'Program Files(x86) but didn't and I hope was the correct decision!
* Once the file has been unpacked into 'C:\Program Files(x86)\Denford' the following folders appear:
Common
Fanuc Tasks
Install
Machine Easy Upgrade
Manuals
Quick Turn 2D (Previously installed)
USB
USB 64 Bit
Utility
VRTurning

Followed by these files:

AutoRun
Autorun
AutoRun
Start
VRTurn

* I searched 'Manuals' looking for help with installing from download but nothing obvious!
* At this point I select the file 'Start' and the Denford 'Software instalation' screen opens

* The first option in the list of visible tabs is to 'Install 'VR CNC Turning' and the Third is to install '64-bit USB Drivers'

* I select install VR CNC Turning and the screen .......... LOCKS UP!

* To escape this I shut down.....

Please coud anyone 'help me find the error of my ways!' Different or next step advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi I don't have windows 8 but would normally extract the VRTurning cd to either the desktop or my documents. Effective the download is the installation CD. You must run the auto run from the extracted folder.

I suggest you either move the folder to the desktop or re extract it to somewhere else.

When you then run the program it will install into the program files(x86) folder.

Is your computer a 64 bit system, if so install the 64 bit driver.

You will need to have admin wrights to do the install.

Hi, Ok; got there - in the end! The problem was solved by checking the installation program was run as administrator, as you advised. Thanks for your time, Graeme.
