Re: Quatro for sale
Good luck in your search Tony, they are great machines, i have two.
There are some variations on them as far as control systems are concerned, mine were pnc3 with steppers, but i've heard of fanuc versions as well.
If i can be of any help please ask.

Re: Quatro for sale
yes i doubt ill find one,id be interested in one with a blown control as id be happy to mach3 it.
if not ill probably look at importing a zx50 which looks like a copy of one :

in any instance i would Z axis the colom rather than the quill.

Re: Quatro for sale
the zx50 is a fair bit smaller than the quatro, about 40% smaller. The quatro is a lot more substantially built as well, weighing in at 1200kgs.
the two i have, had a leadscrew on the pillar and 100mm of cnc control on the quill for the z axis. The leadscrew was powered buy a dc motor and gave me full control of the head, but not under cnc control.
i've replaced the leadscrew with a ballscrew and counterbalanced the head, which now gives me full control of the head over the whole pillar.
Mach3 control is a must.
