Hello
I have a Denford Micromill 2000. I think I have blown up part of the driver board (the bottom one). Symptom: the X axis stepper does not move but only makes a whirring noise. If I plug the X axis cables into the Y axis socket (and vice versa) the problem gets transferred to the Y stepper. So obviously the motor and cables are OK.
The board is marked as Baldor F391 issue 2. Is there anything relatively easy I could try (eg replace a component or two?) Alternatively if I am trying to source a second hand replacement board, does it have to be issue 2 or will and issue 1 version work?

Re: Baldor F391 troubleshooting
OK having read a bit here it looks to me like either the 297 or 298 chips might have gone. I will get new ones but I cannot find any documentation which shows in each case which chip on the board control which axis.
Re: Baldor F391 troubleshooting
I don't think we have any information on that either.
We used to return them to Baldor for repair.

Re: Baldor F391 troubleshooting
Thanks - someone has previously posted a picture identifying the Z chips which means I have a slightly better than 50 per cent chance of guessing the X and Y, assuming they are placed in a logical order.
But - do you know whether issue 1 boards are compatible with issue 2?

Yes they can be swapped over if that is what you are asking.
