Z-axis jogging problem

When I use the page up/page down buttons in the VR 5 interface to jog a Denford Microrouter Compact, it does not respond as it should. Sometimes, but not constantly, it will move correctly, then stop. Press the button again, and it will move the opposite direction. It is all over the place and it doesn't matter which button I am pressing and there seems to be no pattern to it. It's just completely random.
