Triac pc upgrade

Post by Gazah » Sat 05 May , 2012 3:28 am

Hi all just got myself a Triac PC ( 1998 vintage ) With a 2.21 eprom and i am using VR milling 5
It's got the old denstep board in it and i find it's pausing for a while while it rebuffers the data in
Would a upgrade to a nextstep or better stll a usb conected card make much difference
And how easy is the conversion to do
Have thought about Mach3 conversion but the machine works perfect apart from this slight glitch

The performance boost between a 2.21 system with RS232 and the newer USB card will be great.
Even though the Triac machine is restricted to lower feedrates than, say, one of our Routers, it benefitted greatly from the USB upgrade.
Contouring is much smoother and feedrates could be increased without fear of the axes stalling... with a USB Triac I doubt you'd ever be held up by communication lag
I'd recommend you check the gib strips if you decide to do the upgrade.
