I have recently purchased my Viceroy in very good condition but lacking in accessories.

I was thinking of purchasing a metric set over a period of time. Can anyone help me with selecting the appropriate ones for my machine please?

Does anyone know of a spare fixed/travelling steady? there is one currently but very pricey for condition.

You might get lucky and find a draw-bar type of collet set-up that fits - but traditional collets are a bit restrictive in that they only hold their designated size of bar.
I decided to go for an ER32 collet set-up on my 280 VS (ER25's might be fine for the TDS lathes). They typically have a holding range of 1mm, so can equally well hold metric or imperial stock, or part of a workpiece of any size that you have just machined and turned around for a 2nd op.
You can either buy a chuck for them (drawbar or faceplate fit), or there are many articles in magazines and on the web describing the manufacture of a chuck (most have purchased the nut).
I got my collets in a special offer from Rotagrip - beware of the (in)accuracy in some cheap imports; there are various threads in other forums with stories of 0.003" runout in a collet.
