Can anybody tell me the correct thread size for my lathe? is it 1/2" x 10TPI right or left hand?
Thanks

On your metric lathe, it's 1/2" diameter x 2.5mm pitch left hand modified square section thread. As far as I can tell this like a square thread but with a 10 degree flank angle.

Drawings here: EDIT - wrong drawing. That one is for a 5mm pitch, you want a 2.5mm pitch nut.

ML100-512D is the drawing you need, it's about here somewhere. Here's a gif of the nut.

Here's the drawing:

How lucky are we to have these great folks at Denford who are willing to put themselves out for no gain to help by scanning drawings for our machines? I know a lot of it is gone now in the premises move but all the same I think we should be very grateful for what we get!

I made mine from delrin, following this method:

It was tight at the ends of travel at first, but now it works like a charm and has no back-lash.
