280 VS Lathe Tailstock Drawings?
Quickie,
Does anyone have any 280 VS (or compatible) tailstock drawings? Specifically the main screw and the removable thrust plate for the main screw? I've not seen them on the forum.
Cheers
Spike

I've probably got them somewhere.
There was a change in dimensions at some point. How do I know? Because I tried swapping some bits after my 280VS got damaged in transit. Can't remember exactly what didn't fit - it may have been the pitch / position of the holes in the thrust plate.
What year is your 280VS?
Might take a couple of days to find them.

OK - I had the Arrangement already scanned.
I've put it here - viewtopic.php?f=50&t=2960
I'd have thought that the thrust plate ought to be in one of the files of A4 scans already on here.
The main screw might be an A3 size.

Andy, are we at crossed purposes here. . .?Andy B wrote:OK - I had the Arrangement already scanned.

I'm interested in the screw from the tailstock. Long story short is that I'm trying to help a guy make a replacement as he's missing the screw and the trapezoidal thrust plate. Not things that normally need replacing I know. . .

Hi Spike,
If you scroll to the bottom of the thread to which I put the link, you will find the tailstock arrangement drawing.
From that you can determine the drawing numbers of the 2 parts you want, which are:
MVS100/703 for the back plate, and
BVS100/706 for the screw spindle.
On checking the parts lists I see there was also a similar arrangement drawing (MVS100/700), which had a different screw spindle MVS100/706.
Knowing the drawing numbers required makes it much easier to find the relevant file or roll of drawings where they might be.

Thank you for spotting there's an alternative drawing. The BVS100/700 drawing doesn't exactly match my VS 280 (looks like there's a grub screw at the end of the screw spindle whereas mine is just turned down). I'll make some enquiries with the gentleman who needs the part to see if he can tell which drawing is relevant. (Those are the relevant parts by the way)
Cheers

Detail drawings now added to the post with the assembly drawing.
I have the tailstock body to scan, but have not found the base casting.

I've now also added some modification notes for 1977-80 regarding the tailstock.
