I use ISO32 hydraulic oil in the headstock and gearbox on mine. On the ways I use way lube and in the oilers I use mineral engine oil.

Hello

Hydraulic oil is a good choice for the gearbox. It's only available in 10litres drums here so I use non-EP gear oil.

EP lubricates erode yellow metals. I am about 99% certain that gearbox does not contain any bronze.

The gearbox is so lightly loaded that just about any lubricant would be OK and there would be no advantage using EP oil.

I use heavy oil for the ways. I don't use coolant so I don't have to worry about oil washing off.
I routinely wipe down the ways and apply fresh oil.
Regards

Dazz
