A have looked at other topics about the laser not cutting properly with interest as this is something that has happened quite frequently with ours. Even putting the material thickness up to 5mm for 3mm acrylic doesn't always do the job and you have to cut it out twice to get a clean cut all the way through.

The PDF about Focusing the Laser Beam says the number on the the side of the Focus Carriage should match the Lens Size. The only number on the focus carriage that I can see is the big 2.0 on the front and the LENS SIZE in setup is 50.8mm. Is there another number on the Focus Carriage or is our laser well out of focus?

The 2.00 on the Focus Carriage assembly refers to the focus distance as a imperial unit. You have a 2 inch lens fittted which is normal for the Versalaser. If you were to change to imperial on the setup page the "50.8" will change to" 2.0"

It may be worth checking a couple of other things though.

1. Check that the laser Wattage is set correctly. The easiest way to check is to remove the rear cover.It is fastened on by 2 screws underneath. Once removed you will then be able to lift the cover off. Once removed you need to check the Laser wattage marked on the cartridge is the same value as the value displayed on the top of the Versalaser Print Menu Page.
2. Check the beam window, mirrors 1 & 2 & the focus lens. They all need to be clean & unmarked.
3. Check the focus height with the manual tool.
