Versalaser Disconnected

I have a Versalaser 3.50 30W. When the computer is switched on with the versalaser usb cable connected, I get a message requesting me to install the new hardware.
When I start the Versalaser control panel it says "disconnected" at the bottom of the screen.
I re-install the driver from the CD - no effect.
I have tried a different computer.
I have tried a different usb cable.
If I do a test print from the vls3.5 in the printers folder, the page appears on the control panel screen okay.

Any thoughts?

I don't know the Lasers well at all, but it sounds like you've done some basic checks to find out whats wrong:
There is power to the USB as windows sees the machine and asks for the driver.
As you've tried another PC and cable it rules out USB hardware or cables
All that's left is a faulty CPU board on the laser or less likely a driver issue (maybe just worth trying another PC with the latest ULS drivers installed (not forgetting to make the Laser the default printer)

Have you installed the USB device drivers as requested & if so do you get a message?

Check in Device Manager that all USB devices are correct.

The device drivers are on the ULS installation CD.

I had the engineer out today. It needed a new usb board. I was glad that I had tried all the right things before getting him out.

Thanks for the help.

It'll be busy for the next week catching up after its little rest.
