Turn 270 Pro door stuck

Post by dixonsca » Tue 27 Nov , 2012 14:21 pm

After a morning of turning parts, I returned in the afternoon to continue but our beloved Turn270 Pro fancied the afternoon off and wouldnt let me open the door!

I have powered the lathe off and rebooted the pc but to no avail, the door simply wont open. I have removed the 2 nuts from the locking mechanism to get round the problem temporarily however doing this means the lathe now has no saftey feature.

Any ideas why the door will not release are welcomed?

I'd guess it's a fuse blown.

the fuses are all ok and the guard release relay engages when the lathe is powered on. :(

It's either the guard release solenoid has failed, or the wiring from the PCB to the solenoid is faulty.
I've just opened up a new guard switch and put an ohm meter across E1 and E2 the solenoid inputs...it read 2000ohms. It'd be worth checking that (with the wires removed)
Check the voltage is going to those same pins when the guard release relay is energised (it should be 24V DC)
