Triac spindle motor

Hi,
I have an early triac (86) I would like fit a bigger spindle motor on it
to give it a bit more grunt at low revs.
its presently got the standard 1/2 horse 3phase motor driven
by a jaguar cub inverter,I would like to go to 1 horse if poss.
has anyone done this,if so do they know of a motor that will
drop straight on?

Without trying to hunt down the drawings, we couldn't say exactly what your setup is.
We have provided a 6000RPM Baldor servo motor option in the past, on our Triac descendant the Triton (Pretty much the same spindle casting and internals as would be on the older Triacs)
This gave us loads of torque throughout
However it wasn't straightforward - it involved new bearings to cope with the higher speed, different pulleys (1:1), a motor mounting adaptor plate and a bit of machining on the castings to accomodate the new motor
Maybe someone with an old machine has upgraded theirs with something else ?

Hi,
cheers for that.any Idea what the standard spindle bearings are rated to
in rpm, can you remember the details on ourating the bearings?
were they bigger,or just higher precision?

My sources tell me:
The old bearings were rated to 5500RPM (pushing it at that - as they were plain bearings out of different boxes that were preloaded by "feel")
The new ones for the higher speed motor were rated to 7000RPM
They were higher precision, matched pair (Light preload duplex set) - we had to add ground spacer to get the preload correct
The new bearings were 2MM208WIDUL
