bt 30 release tool adjustment

Post by hpe » Sun 13 Jun , 2021 19:56 pm

hi people i need some help before my head explodes.... i have an issue with my triac tool changer ..it has bt30 spindle , the air hydraulic cylinder which pushes down to release the pull stud has about 10mm travel .

i presume this is correct.
i can wind down the cylinder so it just clears the top of the part it hits with a tool in , it will allow a tool change ,but if no tool in the cylinder will rub against the part it pushes against then weld itself to it .

so i need some help ,is the above normal ? if not what is wrong or what do i need to adjust and how do i do it ?

ive had the stud puller and spring washers out all looks ok

cheers

Have you checked the oil level in the cylinder?

You can take the top off & lift the cylinder out which gives access to the tube that should be full.

thank you

where is the correct oil level ,when you say top of the tube do you mean the top of the 1/2 hole which the hydraulic piston goes in to or higher so it leaks out the side

also spring adjustment is there a procedure or length or do i fit a tool and wind the adjuster in until i have enough grip ?

from memory im sure i could spin it with no tool

thanks

The oil level should be to the top of the 1/2 inch hole.

The springs are tensioned with a tool up the spindle. the Lower nut needs to be set 11mm below the top of the shaft. The top nut is then set flush with the top of the shaft.
