TRIAC COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE ( . TRI file extension)

HI
I have attempted to use the Industrial Editor to communicate with my 1986 TRIAC with no success. (I keep getting the ERROR No. 1010).
I have had great success using the TRIAC software loaded on this site and am able to upload and download programs.
The problem I have is that all saved programs have the file extension . TRI & .TRS. The code generation software I am using creates .NC or .DXF files. Does anyone know how to convert between them?
Also my TRIAC has the 12" monitor missing. Can I just use a TV monitor?
I would like to use a PC monitor is this possible?

1986 - would that be a North Eastern Electronics controller (PNC3)? We use the Triac (not the industrial editor) software at work and that works just fine.
I assume that these .TRI & .TRS files are just text files? If so, in dos type -
rename c:\filename.nc filename.TRI
DXF files are drawings so you will not be able to input them directly to the machine. You will need to create the g-codes from the DXF files using your CAM software.

RE the Monitor - I doubt one of todays monitors would work.
I mean to photograph some of the old monitors we have knocking around as soon as I get a minute - maybe there will be a Triac one in there
They will go into the classifieds section, and because we don't know if they work, will just want to cover post and packing.

I have tried renaming the NC files to .TRI files.
Although it made them visible within the TRIAC offline software it did not appear to want to load them.

Try using the Triac software here -

The files for this editor are simply text files with a .pnc extension on them.

I am using the software in the file named TRIAC from this source.
The files here do have the extension TRI & TRS not pnc as you suggest.
Any other ideas?

Try using the attached software - this should work wiht .pnc extensions

I may have come across a monitor for your Triac. Found one in the stores of one of other depts at work. It looks identical to the one on the Triac so I will try and see if it works. With a bit of persuasion I might be able to get the guys to part with it. Drop me a private message for more details and I can try and take some pics if your interested.

Just for info...
The Triac PNC external video output provides a 'normal' composite video output signal.
So any small TV or monitor that has a 'Composite video in' connector should work (this is usually a phono connector on the back of the monitor marked 'video in').
(and don't be fooled by the 'aerial socket' type connector used at the back of the Triacs electrics - it's not a UHF telly signal coming out of there - it's composite video!)
Not sure about America - I don't know if the 50Hz / 60Hz difference would mean a USA composite video monitor would work OK or not.

Hi Andy
Pic attached. Note that the monitor I have found is A green on green as opposed to a green on black that is on our Triac here. Apart from that the casings, connections etc are identical.

Yep - we have one marked faulty 1998 - see the classifieds to get it for spares / repair
