Triac pnc3 with atc

I have had cnc machines for a few years now , and have had a triac pc for about 5 years all works fine , and a cnc lathe for about 3 years all are rs232
port loaded , a bout 18 months ago i bought a triac pnc3 with atc , the atc
needed some work but it all works fine in manual mode , if I write a programme
on the machine , it also works fine . but I cant get it to talk to a pc to load
bigger programmes . I ve read the other articals writen on here about 232port
trouble . Ive checked the cable . Ive installed the denford editor programme .
and rotated various pc . to ensure i was using a pc that was capable of talking
on a serial cable.
the best way in the past to fix such issues ( that i had when setting up other
machines) was to write a programme on the triac and send it to the pc . then
pick up the bits / error codes . but I am not getting any error codes , only a dash on the pc screen when i cancel the up load .
I think thats it is connected right . but not talking the same language .
in the chapter 40 of the programming manual is says each block must start with
<stx> and finish with<cr> . how do you acomplish this . ive studdied the
denford edit programme , and cant figure this out . is there a configure file
for the pnc3 . and how do you set it for one block at a time .
thanks for your help .
