Triac Work offset problem

Post by jaycnc » Mon 02 Nov , 2009 14:16 pm

I have a Triac running Fanuc OM and on the MDI screen it lists G54 work offset but on the offset page there are no work offset tables and if i program G54 i get Alarm code 10 which says its an un recognised G code.

Is there a parameter that can be switched on and if so which one is it please?

If not then any idea on costs for a system upgrade please?

The funny thing about this is that in the hand book that came with the machine it lists the G54 through to G59 as work offsets :roll:

thanks
jay

what is parameter 910.1 set to ?

Oh, and some G codes may be different to the books because Fanuc had options for 2 or 3 different G-code standards

.1 means bit 1 - starting at 0, reading from right to left
eg:
Bit: 76543210
910:00000010

Ah Ha, In that case then,parameter 910 is set at 00000000 :lolol:

Use at your own risk!!!

Usual disclaimers apply!!!

1) nothing happens at all :mrgreen:

2) It works fine :mrgreen:

3) Denford Triac spotted orbiting the moon :poo: (Oops!)

:puzzled:

Seriously, "Denford Admin" is mentioning bit "1" which is the second from the right and on mine it is set to 1 where yours is set to 0.

No idea what the other 1 in the string might be as I don`t have the list of 900 parameters for that particular machine, they are all "options" to with what is set to be available to that machine control to use.

If there are no other suggestions then probably best to only try changing the second from the right eg 00000010

Rob

Just as a note on this.

When Fanuc ship a control they also send a Parameter checklist which shows what options are switched on.

If as an OEM supplier we wanted to extend the memory on the control all that needed doing was to change one of the 900 parameters.

We were not allowed to do this and had to pay the Fanuc Service guy to travel to us to change the parameter.

I am not sure what they do if you have turned on parameters that you have not paid them for but we were not prepared to change them.

I would say do not call in Fanuc to service a machine unless your 900 parameters are set as they were shipped from the factory. Otherwise :loads-a-money:

Silly question but how do they know its been paid for??
Couldnt it have been put in by a specialist at some point when they came out to upgrade memory or something and you paid them?

The controls all have a built in number that is recorded by Fanuc, and yes they do KEEP RECORDS FOREVER!!!

Never mind ay.........lol
Will just have to put it back to 00000000 :D

Anyways, Both 00001010 and 00000010 work and have now got me work offsets (yeha :D )

The new problem is :(

Work offsets now show as no 00 no 01 no 02 and so on up to no 07.

The problem being that if i set G54 in the program and set No00 to x-50 it will move to x-50. as it should and treat it as a work offset which is good.
Now if i put g55 and no01 to x-100. the machine goes to x-50. :delirious:

The old fanuc OM machines i used to work always had the work offsets listed as g54 g55 g56 ect but this has numbers such as no 00 and no 01 :o

Now either i only have G54 as a work offset or im missing something so any help would greatly be appreciated as id really like to get this old girl cutting metal with multipal work offets if i can :)

The offsets are as follows:-

Ignore the 00 one!!

01 = G54
02 = G55
03 = G56
04 = G57
05 = G58
06 = G59

That is usually all you will have in a Fanuc O Series control!!

Have fun!!

That would explain things then Rob if you dont class No 00 as an offset........ :lolol:

ANy explanation as to why both parameter settings worked eg 00000010 and 00001010??? :dumbfounded:

:puzzled: Not had time to look it up but it is possible that the 00 one is a sort of "override" one in that if you wanted to do a job without disturbing any of your other offsets you could use the 00 one and it will go to the coordinates for the 00 offset, you would have to try it out and see what happens when you have any coordinates in the 00 offset and try calling up any offset eg G55 or G58 etc???? Just guessing here!!!! :puzzled:

Probably both worked because the second from the right bit was changed on both and that is probably the one that does do the work offsets!!!

If memory serves me i think your right about it being an over ride offset mate.
I am going back about 8 years now to the last time i used Fanuc of course but somethings do come back to me and sometimes they come back jumbled up but i get there......lol
Atleast i got all the offsets back but havent had chance to try them yet after altering the parameter as iv spent all day sorting the cyclone work light out because that decided to blow the balast unit in the back within minutes of me sorting the Triac out :(
Will let you know tomorrow how i get on. :wink:

00 is a global shift, it offsets G54 to G59 all by the amount entered.

Thanks Graham

Knew it was some kind of "override"!!!!
