Apparently this is a different version of FanucMD which is normally used to control Denford DOS machines. Its for Triac machines only (Mr Magoo ?)

Just to clear things up...

There were a few variations of FANUCMD.EXE software created.
- One version will only operate as offline programming software
- Another version will only operate a Triac machine
- but BOTH were called FANUCMD.EXE (with hindsight not such a good idea  )

So on the Denford website..
FANUCMD.ZIP is the Offline programming version
FANUCMD TRIAC.ZIP is the Triac Stepper Control version

Hi all

Have tried using this version but I get the above error when run
using the same settings as my current (working) version (V1.62)
I can get it to work by using my current FANUCMD.APP in this directory
but then I get v1.62 however it proves the com port settings.
Does this version supprt the eurostep rack controller in my Triac vmc
or is is there any other possible cause

for info the m/c ser no is :-

22011A

and the electronics ser no is :-

OC0001284

thanks jmini

Jmini...

The personalised settings for your machine are held in two files FANUCMD.GO and FANUCMD.OPT

Try copying these two files from your older working version into the folder of your new version

The version posted on the link above should work with your eurostep rack-based controller, and the error you are getting is usually related to an incorrect setting in the FANUCMD.GO file (which specifes the Address and IRQ of the COM port used to link to the machine)

Thanks for your replies, But I am still having no joy.
copied files as described but no luck (tried a few other cobinations
as well to no avail)
have been advised to ask if this newer sotware requires hardware
handshaking or some other change.
Has any other person been able to get this version to work?
Also does any body have a version of the Heidenhain software
that includes rotation, my current version (1.88) does not

thanks jmini

Just had a thought that it could be the version of EPROM on your control card in the machine that is too old.

Some early machines were fitted with an 'older' EPROM, then as things were refined a newer version came out (and FANUCMD was changed to suit). The Older version was only used for the first year of manufacture, and most machines were upgraded but you could still have an old version (and old FANUCMD that runs OK)

I can't remember what version you should have, but I'll post the question to the Denford guys in the Machines forum and see if they know...

Eprom version

Hi
I have had a look at the eprom and the label on it says :-
MINT/3..28
v1.05/KC/S

for info if this does require updating and somebody can send me the
file i know a chap with eprom programmers who could do the upgrade

Thanks
