Hi all,

I have a Denford Triac CNC machine and would like to use it for some CNC drag engraving using a diamond tip point. How do I switch off or disable the spinning spindle during the run? Even with the speed control dial I can't get it to stop completely.

Thanks for your help

How are you generating your program ?

If it has a M03 ( Spindle Clockwise) then take this out of your program.

I am using the VR milling version 5 software.

Is it possible to switch the spindle off using this software?

Thanks

The spindle will only run in a priogram if it is asked to do so, i.e. there is a M03 is in the program.

The spindle will not run until asked to do so in a program or by pressing a button in Control Panel \Jog or inputting M05 in MDI mode

You could disconnect the enable/run signal to the spindle drive.

If you're going to want to do this frequently, you could wire up a keyswitch / toggle switch in series with the drive enable/run wire.

Hi,

Thanks for the tips.

I think fitting a spindle drive switch will be the best option, then I can control the spindle seperately and still use the software I am used to

Which is the wire and where is the best place to isolate it?

Thanks

is it this one ?
viewtopic.php?t=634

find the run/enable input on the drive (84, 85 or 86 by the looks of it)
pull the wire from there,
wire it to one side of switch
put new wire from other side of switch to run/enable input

Hi,

It is a 1998 model Denford Triac ATC, UK supplied, serial number E05218.

Where would I find the run enable terminals and what do they look like? Would they be in the black control box or near the spindle head?

Thanks

If you look at that post

You should find the spindle drive as shown, in the black box.
The run input is on the bottom left of the drive board with wire numbers 84, 85 or 86 going to it - the board's silk screen should be marked up run or enable or something like that.
