Seperating Head from Base

how do you separate the head from the base?

ive undone the 4 screws in the side, is there anything else (yes ive removed the bar for the lid)

what are the other thread "things" in the side, cant work out what they are?

I would expect the y axis stepper will be bolted to the pillar

We think angel tech is right, a look at the Starmill asssembly drawings doesn't give us any more info. but the drive assembly is probably bolted to the column.

I suspect you will have to get the whole thing out of the cabinet and get access to the back of the column, which will be open. There may be a cutout in the back of the cabinet...?
PS, I'd also pull those pins out before they get bent !

Y stepper already removed.

I as far as im aware ive unbolted everything from the column, it just wont move. so thought I might be missing something

ah is that what they are, yes they are.

do i need to take them ou, if so how as they are just round no ally key or anything

That's what I meant by "I'd also pull those pins out before they get bent !"

They will have something like an M3 thread down the middle, screw something (preferably a pin extractor) into that and tap it out upwards
You could fabricate something fairly easily (just a threaded bar with a sliding cylinder and stop at one end.
