Starmill Spindle Runout?

Hello All,

I measure the runout of my Starmill R8 Spindle with a DTI and am seeing about 0.015mm of runout.
What was the factory tolerance for this spindle from new?
Is this runnout acceptable (how longs a piece of string)?

Kind Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Where were you measureing the runout?
I don't think the inspection records came accross in the move but if you have the serial number I will look on Monday.

Hello Martin thanks for your reply.

I am measuring the inside of the R8 spindle with a DTI.
Not sure what the serial number is... I am not at the machine at the moment but from memory I think I noticed a number on the table would this be it?
The machine is circa 1988 if that helps.

Thanks Again
Steve

Hi Steve,

The serial plate should be on the black electrical box.

Martin,

Nothing on the back but there is a label inside 'North East Electronics' Serial Number= 014 and Date = 8/88. The table has the number 451 stamped on the front right hand under the cover that hides the X limit switch.

Kind Regards,
Steve

I can't find any info for the Starmill but managed to locate this for a lathe which should be similar.
