Another silly question
The set up of the mach 3 was how I acquired it.
In the set up of the spindle m3 is CW and M4 is CCW
The spindle is in ports and pins is step pin 1 and step port as 1
Spindle set up is enabled with M3 as Output 1 and M4 as Output 2
here lays the issue I think
This is what I have established
Output 1 is port 1 Pin 14 is the spindle go relay
Output 2 is port 1 Pin 16 is the CIR Carousel In Relay
Output 3 is port 1 Pin 17 the Drawbar relay
I can not see anything that relates to the Signal Reverse Relay (SSR)
In the picture provided I think the relay on the left is the SSR based on the original drawings.
Without going down a rabbit hole between the two pictures should I have an SSR and whats the easiest way to id the pin the Relay occupies
As its been converted not all the wiring relates to the original drawings

A common implementation would use pin 16 as the spindle reverse but due to the limited IO it seems to have been used for the tool changer. It might be the person that converted it wondered how useful spindle reverse is and left it out in favour of the tool changer. I use reverse spindle direction occasionally on my manual Bridgeport mill for things like milling cutters and slitting saws that fit on arbors where the direction can be chosen to suit the set-up, also the occasional left hand twist drill but otherwise all cutting in normal direction so reverse on your mill may be of minimal use. Personally I would wire it as a normal configuration if possible for the mill operation and move all IO for the tool changer and extras off to your 2nd LPT port just to keep things organised and not mix functionality across LPT ports, I don't think it's necessary but IMO just better organisation

so i wired up port two pin 16 to another relay to switch on the reverse relay but also had to have a signal wire from breakout board to the spindle go relay the issue i then had was that the sgr was always on, solved this by putting a diode in series from the signal wire that fed between 79 and 80
and all works as it should,
i just wished the person that sold it to me had told me that they had wired it as such.
